Stars of The West End Set to Rock Jakarta

Stars of The West End

Direct from the UK, Stars of the West End is back in Jakarta for a show-stopping performance of rock musical classics on 23rd September 2019.

Produced by the British Theatre Playhouse and Worldwide Entertainment, this one-night only extravaganza will give fans a taste of some great rock and pop classics.

Starting 8:00pm at the Makara Ballroom of DoubleTree by Hilton Jakarta – Diponegoro, the group of four leading stars, consisting of renowned talents Mike Sterling, Shona Lindsay, Ross William Wild, and Carole Stennet, will unleash their inner rockstars upon the greatest rock classics. The soundtrack includes crowd pleasers from shows such as We Will Rock You by Queen, Thriller by Michael Jackson, and The Bodyguard by Whitney Houston.

Stars of the West End has been busy touring across the globe since 2011. Highlights have included a concert in London’s Cadogan Hall in 2014 and an exclusive performance at the Louvre in Paris in 2015. Even Indonesia has been treated to their performance before – the group once rocked out Ciputra Artpreneur Theatre, Jakarta in 2017, albeit with a different lineup.

This upcoming Monday will be Mike Sterling and Shona Lindsay’s second time performing in Jakarta. Mike says he finds Jakarta’s culture, food, and people to be a stand out memory from his previous visit, opining “I embrace culture and that can make it all feel pretty different and add another layer to what we normally do. This time, I’m looking forward to enjoy another great show and to sample some great nightlife.”

Shona is also excited to explore Jakarta this time around. “I feel very lucky to be able to visit different countries and cultures with my work and I know this visit will be amazing. We didn’t have much time to explore on our last visit so I’m very much looking forward to getting out and about and trying some local delicacies,” she said.

Local cuisine and culture seems to be a common attraction for this group of charasmatic artists. Ross William Wild has never been to Jakarta before, and said he’s “particularly looking forward to the sights, people, sounds and food of this incredible place.” Carole Stennet agrees, “I’m looking forward to experiencing the culture and trying some of the amazing cuisine!”

But how different is this rock musical show going to be? According to Shona, this is a completely different show, and although it includes a small nod to the original Stars of the West End production, this one focuses more on rock and pop musicals.

“We have a new member in the team, Ross William Wild, who will be giving the group his unique voice and his take on the various roles he has played,” Mike added.

Fans of classic rock’n’roll are guaranteed to have a great time as they sway through songs from some of the biggest shows from the West End, such as Grease and Million Dollar Quartet.

So, how do these charasmatic artists bring out their inner rockstars? Well, their preparations are definitely unique. “All of my life I’ve done rock stuff, so I kind of wake up in the morning raring to go,” enthused Ross William Wild.

“It’s all in the sequins for me!” exclaimed Shona.

“Lots of rehearsing and making sure to stay hydrated so that I can belt out the high notes!” said Carole.

“Listen to the music, connect with it and try to bring out something of your own buzz within this exciting style,” said Mike.

Meanwhile, if they could perform with either Queen, Michael Jackson, or Whitney Houston, who would they love to belt out those iconic high notes with, together on stage?

Both leading female artists, Carole and Shona, straight away say Whitney Houston. “She was the ultimate icon. Her vocal ability was out of this world and she knew how to own the stage and keep an audience captured and engaged,” said Carole.

“It would have been incredible to sing with Freddie too. I can’t imagine how mind-blowing that would have been!” Shona added.

Mike, on the other hand, couldn’t choose just one, “All of the above. They’re all incredible artists who are unique and indeed who I have looked up to all of my life.”

As for Ross, “definitely Michael Jackson.”

Can you imagine the late Freddie Mercury, Michael Jackson, and Whitney Houston singing your favourite classic hits with the Stars of The West End? Much as that’s wishful thinking, you can still go a fair way to achieving that dream. Don’t forget to secure your tickets at BookMyShow or online at id.bookmyshow.com.
