MRT Jakarta Opens Registration for Trial Run

MRT Jakarta, which is set to start its trial run from March 12 to 23, has opened online registration for the public. Starting from March 5, those wishing to travel by the MRT on its trial run will be able to make registrations via its website- http://www.ayocobamrtj.com– totally free of charge. Free tickets are also available via e-commerce platform, BukaLapak.

After downloading the BukaLapak app via a smartphone, one could register for the trial run by filling out the trial date and the station name from which they would like to board the train. Registration must be done at least a day before the trip, with each account being allowed to take more than just one trip. Applicants will further be asked to confirm their email address, before proceeding to obtain a unique code via SMS for validation purposes. The electronic ticket will be delivered to their email address as a prerequisite for the trip.

William Sabandar, CEO of MRT Jakarta mentioned that while there is no exact quota for passengers, a targeted 28,000 registrars are expected to meet the train’s maximum capacity. “No quota. People can just register,” he adds.

The first phase of the MRT line, connecting the Hotel Indonesia Roundabout in Central Jakarta to Lebak Bulus, South Jakarta, has reached 99 percent of completion and is due to resume its commercial operation on March 24.
