Satish Kumar, JW Marriott's New General Manager

As someone who has an overall 19 year experience in Asia-Pacific and the Middle East,  JW Marriott Hotel Jakarta’s newest General Manager, Satish Kumar, has returned to the Asia-Pacific hospitality scene.

Over the last 10 years with Marriott International, Satish has had the opportunity to work with various brands of Marriott International, namely Courtyard by Marriott, Marriott Executive Apartments, Renaissance, The Ritz-Carlton, Le Merdien, and Westin hotels. During this tenure, Satish was also recognized as a global winner of the EDGE Front of the House Leader award as a part of the 2017 Global Discipline Awards.

Satish’s formative years in the hotel industry were plied within the Oberoi and Taj Group of hotels. He was an alumni of the hallowed Oberoi Centre of Learning & Development (OCLD), where he honed his management skills; training that was to become a strong foundation for the path ahead.

Possessing a strong advocacy for Marriott Core Values and well-rounded experience in all aspects of hotel operations, Satish reveals that his forte lies in providing exemplary guest service by ensuring every personal detail is perfected and a truly memorable experience is presented to each guest that walks through the JW Marriott Hotel lobby.

“When it comes to developing workplace synergy, defining the right core values for your business is one of the best ways to bring your team together and keep them on track.” says Satish. His favourite one amongst all five of Marriott Core Values is “put people first”.

By that, Satish believes in living life to the fullest and maximising every moment of his time to its full potential and capacity, be it professionally or personally.
