Grand Hyatt Jakarta Appoints New Executive Chief

Adam Tomasz Szczechura, Grand Hyatt Jakarta?s new executive chef

Grand Hyatt Jakarta is pleased to announce the appointment of Adam Tomasz Szczechura as Grand Hyatt Jakarta’s new executive chef.

Chef Adam brings with him an impressive 25 years of cooking experience in several places including Eastern Europe, Asia, and the Middle East. Before joining Grand Hyatt Jakarta, he had worked at the prestigious Grand Hyatt Muscat as an executive chef.

Chef Adam grew up in Warsaw, Poland, where his parents owned a free-standing restaurant called Staropolska, meaning “Old Poland”. The idea is to bring back the old and authentic taste of Polish cuisine. His culinary interest rooted in his family owning and running a restaurant. “I never thought of working in another industry because I always knew that I will be a Chef,” he says.

Growing up with a passion for food as well as cooking, he continued studying as a gastronomy technician and graduated with a diploma in Culinary Arts in Poland. He started his cooking career at Bagatelle Restaurant in 2000 as head chef. Since then, he had joined various Hyatt properties such as Hyatt Regency Warsaw, Hyatt Regency Kiev, Hyatt Capital Gate Abu Dhabi, Park Hyatt Maldives, Hyatt Regency Gurgaon, and Grand Hyatt Abu Dhabi.

When describing what drives him to work in the kitchen, Chef Adam explains, “I’ve been around food all my life and cooking has been my true passion since I was young. When you feel the spark for something, you will enjoy it no matter how difficult the work.”

As the executive chef at Grand Hyatt Jakarta, he is responsible for all food and beverage activities across the hotel’s six dining concepts, banquet kitchen, and in-room dining. In his leisure time, he loves playing with his dog and travelling with his family. As Adam himself admits, travelling substantially influenced his culinary skills, allowing him to explore more flavours and cultures from all over the world.
