Go-Jek, one of Indonesia’s unicorn start-up companies, has received $100 million (Rp1.4 trillion) worth of investment from Astra. Go-Jek and Astra International are set to form a joint venture to develop Go-Jek’s four-wheeled ride-hailing service, Go-Car.
Vice President of Go-Jek, Kristy Nelwan, revealed that the joint project’s management will be supported by Astra Fleet Management System (FMS). Launched in early February by Astra’s subsidiary, Serasi Autoraya (SERA), Astra FMS aims to provide a comprehensive solution to manage digital-based transportation. SERA supports companies to improve their efficiency, Go-Car drivers will also gain access to Astra FMS to improve the quality of their vehicles. Through Astra FMS, SERA encourages companies to increase their efficiency and security while managing vehicles, drivers and cargos. One of the services rendered by SERA is the real-time monitoring of vehicles.
CEO and Founder of Go-Jek, Nadiem Makarim emphasized the importance of digital economies in Southeast Asia, especially Indonesia. One of the ways entrepreneurs reap benefit out of this is by combining the power of each industry. With the collaboration, Makarim foresees promising opportunities for the community to increase their income which will in turn, improve the economy.
