Southeast Asia’ Biggest EDM Festival Benefits Jakarta

Djakarta Warehouse Project

Djakarta Warehouse Project, or DWP, music festival generates profit for the capital, according to the Jakarta Legislative Council (DPRD) chairman Prasetio Edi Marsudi.

“Commission C members will be tasked with monitoring the financial report,” said Prasetio. He also balked at comments regarding the opposition voiced by local mass-organisation called GPI (Islam Youth Movement/Gerakan Pemuda Islam), along with another group called Gerakan Pribumi Indonesia.

One of the protesters, Aimar, requested the event be halted as it went against morality, customs, and values that Governor Anies Baswedan once proclaimed to shut off places filled with immoral practices.

Haris, the rally coordinator, said his side is ready to block road access to JiExpo Kemayoran from 13-15th December 2019 if the event still goes ahead.

Islamic organisations have opposed the electronic dance music festival since early 2019; however the deputy governor at the time, Sandiaga Uno, defended the event claiming “such an event must be supported as it could boost the country’s economy.”
