Search for Belarus Tourist who Fell From Cliff Unresolved

A tourist fell off the cliff in Bali

A Belarus tourist, Siarhei Barbushyn, reportedly fell off the Tanjung Mebulu Cliff in Badung, Bali, while trying to take a selfie on Sunday 27th October.

The incident was confirmed by the Chief of Police for the region of Kuta Selatan, Yusak Agustinus. “It is confirmed that the tourist fell down after taking a selfie on the cliff,” he said.

After the victim was reported lost, the search effort was conducted by the National Search and Rescue Agency (Basarnas) of Bali. The hunt has already entered the third day, but no significant results have been yielded.

The chief of Basarnas Bali, Hari Adi Purnomo, said that the search today is focused on the ocean using a rubber boat. The area being covered by the search encompasses 25.39 miles.
“The search today, 30th October, started at 6.30am, departing from Benoa,” Hari confirmed. He explained that the good weather has enabled the search effort to be maximised. The search involves 21 personnel from Basarnas and the local police.

On Tuesday 29th October, Basarnas used a helicopter to assist in the search for the victim until 6.30pm.

The man was believed to have come to the cliff without anyone accompanying him. A rented white car was also found on the location.
