Inung Rio, a Sumatran Tiger which was rescued in Riau, has died at the Dharmasraya Sumatra Tiger Rehabilitation Centre (PR-HSD) in West Sumatra.
Rio, estimated to be around 2-4 years of age, was first admitted to the rehabilitation centre on 15th April 2019, after being rescued from a tiger trap at Riau Ecosystem Restoration (RER), managed by PT Gemilang Cipta Nusantara (GCN) in Pelalawan District.
The tiger was found to have been severely injured after stepping on a steel sling trap. According to Catrini Pratihari Kubontubuh, executive director of Arsari Djojohadikusumo Foundation, which manages the hospital, Rio died due to health complications.
