The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) is set to investigate Minister of Religious Affairs Lukman Hakim Saifuddin regarding the bribery case which involved former United Development Party (PPP) chairman Romahurmuziy.
The commission will conduct a thorough questioning and investigation session with the minister on Wednesday, 8th May.
KPK spokesman Febri Diansyah, said that the organisation had initially summoned Lukman on 24th April, but he failed to attend due to a function in Bandung. Earlier, the KPK named Romy a suspect in a bribery case at the Ministry of Religious Affairs. Romy is alleged to have received Rp 300 million from Haris Hasanuddin and Muafaq Wirahadi, who both serve as heads of the ministry’s East Java office. Both had allegedly bribed Romy in order to secure themselves positions at the ministry.
During a raid at Lukman’s office in March, the KPK managed to confiscate Rp 180 million and US$30,000 in cash.
