Free Entry to Ancol on June 25 to Commemorate Jakarta’s Anniversary

In a bid to enliven Jakarta’s 491st anniversary on June 22, the management of Taman Impian Jaya Ancol (Ancol Dreamland Park) in North Jakarta will allow visitors to enter the premises for free on June 25.

The free admission will apply from 6 am to 6 pm with private vehicles excluded from the benefits.

Paul Tehusijarana, director of Ancol Dreamland Park, said the free admission is aimed to promote Kampung Budaya Betawi (Betawi Cultural Kampung), which was inaugurated by Jakarta Deputy Governor Sandiaga Uno on June 14.

In the area, visitors can enjoy old Betawi culture and buy souvenirs and food in OK OCE Smart, as well as a gallery that showcases the history behind the names of districts and subdistricts in Jakarta.

Some events, such as Lenong Betawi, Gambang Kromong and Palang Pintu, will be conducted in Kampung Budaya Betawi.

On June 22, a Betawi Talk Show and a parade will be conducted in the area. The event will be closed with a tribute to Benyamin Sueb (the late Betawi artist) on a floating stage at Lagoon Ancol Beach.

“We hope Jakarta residents and Ancol visitors can enjoy the event, which aims to make them love Betawi culture more,” Paul said on Wednesday.
