A bike driver arrested for drug transaction

A driver for an online platform has been arrested by the Ciputat police for allegedly selling drugs. Kiki Irawan, 31, was arrested in Ciledug on 24th August for possession of Rp300million worth of methamphetamine.

“The suspect works as an online ojek driver. When arrested, he was waiting to transact with people buying the drugs,” Ciputat Police Chief Commissioner Endy Mahandika said on Monday 2nd September.

According to the police, Endy was carrying 297 grammes of meth. He also had an electric scale under the seat of his motorbike. “The suspect acted as the courier delivering the drugs sold by perpetrator B, whom we are still searching for,” Endy stated.

The drugs were reportedly picked from the parking lot of Puri Kembangan Mall in West Jakarta. Meanwhile, Kiki claimed that this was his first time delivering drugs after receiving a phone call from someone who had instructed him to do so.

“The suspect claimed that this was his first time delivering drugs. He said he received a phone call from someone he did not know, instructing him to deliver the drugs,” Endy added. He has been charged under the Narcotics Act and could possibly be facing a death sentence, or at least five years of incarceration.
