Indonesia Sees Spike in British Tourists

Following the introduction of the visa-free policy, Indonesia is seeing a surge in British visitors.

The number of British tourists visiting Indonesia has increased by 40.58 percent from last year. In March, the nation saw the arrival of 27,437 British tourists, a number that exceeded the predetermined target by 44.1 percent. In addition to the increase in both January and February, the rise of British tourists today stands at 28 percent.

This year, the Ministry of Tourism for the Republic of Indonesia is in fact planning to further promote Indonesian destinations in the UK through a series of media campaigns, which include digital marketing, print advertising, social media, direct marketing and collateral production. The ministry is also investing in branding campaigns for “Wonderful Indonesia” through LED screens and London taxi wraps.

Aside from media campaigns, the introduction of Garuda Indonesia’s non-stop direct flights from London Heathrow to Jakarta has also played a role in the increase of British tourists to the nation.

In a statement reported by TN Global Travel Industry News, Country Manager for Indonesia in the United Kingdom revealed he was delighted by the increase in numbers of British tourists to Indonesia:

“We are very pleased with the latest visitor arrival statistics. I strongly believe there is excellent potential for continued growth from the UK market as Indonesia ticks all the boxes and has so much diversity to offer the UK traveller.”
