Are You Brave Enough to Tour a Haunted House?

On the back of a popular horror film’s success in Indonesia, a travel agent has launched a one-time tour through the house where the film was based.

The tour of the house, via travel agent Sociotraveler Indonesia, offers thrill-seekers a chance to explore the creepy house featured in Pengabdi Setan (Satan’s Slave) in Pengalengan–a region a few hours’ drive from Bandung–and runs on October 14 from 12 pm to 2 am.

The idea for the Tur Misteri (mystery tour) came after organizer Septyan Bayu Anggara watched the film, which is directed by Indonesian filmmaker Joko Anwar.

“The house itself is already scary. [It made me] curious to find its location,” Bayu recently told kompas.com.

Bayu said he put together the mystery tour in collaboration with members of the Ghost Photography Community, who had visited the house. With help from the photography community, the trip also includes ghost-hunting activities for visitors.

The tour is priced at Rp. 475,000 per person and includes a return trip from Bandung to Pengalengan, entrance fees, food and documentation. Additional dates may be offered if there is a good response.

Pengabdi Setan is a reboot of Indonesia’s 1980 classic by the same name. It has reportedly made over one million tickets sales in its first week of release. The film has also been nominated in 13 out of 22 categories at the annual Indonesian Film Festival in 2017.
