The tourism and hospitality industry in Bali are giving special offers and services for tourists in Bali whose stay have been affected by the Mount Agung eruption.
Since the alert level of Mount Agung was raised to its highest level on Monday, all flight from and to Bali’s Ngurah Rai International Airport have been cancelled, leaving many tourists stranded. It is reported that the Immigration Office has since been granting international tourists one-month visa extensions, giving them more time in Bali than they had initially planned.
In response to the developments, hotels in Bali have been offering free stays for one night and 50 percent discounts for the next day for tourists whose flights have been cancelled or for those who wish to extend their stay, The Jakarta Post reports.
Furthermore, a number of businesses have also designated assembly points for stranded tourists. These assembly points can be found in: Grand Inna Bali Beach Hotel, ITDC Nusa Dua, Krisna Oleh-oleh Sunset Road, Krisna Wisata Kuliner, Taman Ayu, Bali Bird Park, Bali Adventure Tours, Bali Safari and Marine Park, Kertalangu Tourist Village, True Bali Experience, Bencingah Puri Ubud, Pod Chocolate, Taman Sari, Ubud Adventure Center and Pod Chocolate Cafe Sunset.
Meanwhile, travel agencies in Bali have also sent their employees to provide assistance for tourists.
The Tourism Ministry Crisis Center, also known as Bali Tourism Hospitality (BTH), have indicated that airlines have also been swift in taking care and compensating their passengers. Some airlines are providing hotel vouchers for those who have to extend their stay while others give money for passengers whose flights have been cancelled.
The BTH itself has prepared busses to facilitate the return of passengers to their respective hotels from the Ngurah Rai International Airport since its closure on November 27.
Those who are traveling to Bali from Jakarta are advised to go to Surabaya instead and then continue the journey to Bali using a bus.
