Britain is GREAT Pavilion @ Broadcast Indonesia Expo 2017

BritCham Indonesia set up the Britain is GREAT Pavilion at the Broadcast Indonesia Expo taking that took place 25-27 October 2017 at the Jakarta International Expo. The exhibition witnessed the gathering of industry professionals and experts from broadcasting, production and related sectors. In turn, BritCham exhibited United Kingdom’s great broadcasting traditions whilst examining potential export opportunities for British companies in Indonesia.

Alongside the Britain is GREAT Pavilion, BritCham supported the Indonesian Infocom Society, Masyarakat Telematika Indonesia (MASTEL), in association with Pamerindo Indonesia. The event provided a deep-dive learning session over two days with key experts speaking about industry pressing issues, transformative initiatives and technological innovation.

The UK broadcast industry is the fourth largest in the world only behind the United States, China and Japan. The UK is also Europe’s largest mobile content market, with over one billion GBP spent on mobile applications, content and services each year. It also has the highest mobile advertising spend per head; our e-commerce market was worth 104 billion GBP in 2014.

British multimedia and entertainment companies are highly successful overseas, with almost 85 percent of the country’s top 100 media and entertainment companies generating revenues overseas. The combined revenue of the UK’s top 100 multimedia firms nears £100 billion, growing 11 percent from 2016. In this newly energised corporate market, UK media and entertainment companies are proving attractive to overseas buyers. The lead partner for media and entertainment at Deloitte stated, “The UK’s creative economy continues to be a valued export market, and punches well above its weight when it comes to sating the global appetite for media content. The future success stories in the world of film, TV, video gaming and music will be dependent on the continued preservation of the UK’s creativity.”
