Traffic Accident on Jakarta's Inner City Toll Road

A traffic accident involving a tanker truck belonging to the state-owned oil and gas company Pertamina and a private car is reported to have occurred on Jakarta’s inner city toll road on early Sunday, killing three people.

“Two victims are the Pertamina truck’s crew members while the other is somebody inside the ill-fated private car,” Head of East Jakarta’s Fire and Rescue Agency, Gatot Sulaiman, confirmed.

Sulaiman reported that fire had apparently attacked the Pertamina tanker truck but the primary cause remains unknown. The accident took place at around 1.45am yesterday and the victims have been evacuated. The East Jakarta fire station employed 10 fire trucks, while the North Jakarta station sent two. The fire was extinguished within an hour.
