Indonesian Navy Signs US$170 Million Procurement Contract

In line with their 2017 work plan, the Indonesian Navy has closed a procurement contract on goods and services worth US$170 million (Rp. 2.22 trillion) with contractors.

As part of its work plan to encourage transparency, create efficiency and promote acceleration in 2017, the Indonesian Navy has signed a US$170-million procurement deal with contractors.

The signed procurement agreements involve contracts on personnel equipment (Rp.118 billion), facilities and infrastructure (Rp.409 billion), education facilities (Rp.48 billion), research and development (Rp.12 billion) and weapons procurement (Rp.1.6 trillion).

The contract signing ceremony was held simultaneously across eight areas, including the Eastern Fleet Command (Koarmatim), the Western Fleet Command (Koormabar), the naval base in Cilangkap and other navy headquarters in Tanjung Pinang, Riau Islands,  Padang, West Sumatra, Pontianak, West Kalimantan, Tarakan of North Kalimantan and Merauke in Papua.

Admiral Ade Supandi, Indonesia’s Navy chief of staff, explained that they are expecting the contract signing to help accelerate the budget absorption of the Navy this year. The chief of staff added that President Jokowi has promised to speed up the work plans across the country’s ministries and departments to boost performance and positive results.
